changing thermostat in Dodge van?

Not an A-Body question, I changed the thermostat in my 93 B-250/318 mag, about 2 yrs ago and it took me over 2 hrs, the bracket for the alt and a/c compressor covers up the housing, is it easier to remove or move the bracket forward to gain access, any help is greatly appreciated.

I think I did my 2003 with the bracket still attached. The hardest part was cleaning off the old gasket. I think it takes quite a bit of work to remove that whole assembly. So, pick your poison.
