Rite now im just gonna use the points as the trigger but im sure this can be develop further to use magnetic pickup etc. later.

This will eventually be painted and attached to the inner fender.

its a kit, bought years ago in Perth, Australia for like A$80 but never got the chance to build/install it. I think its at least 5 yrs old. But hopefully all works well. Will keep u updated once fitted.

Yeah I believe so - haven't been to Perth since then.

If all goes well, I should be installing this baby on Sunday. Will keep you guys posted

Too late i guess...

Here are a couple of pictures, painted, and installed on RH inner fender.

Runs like a charm, very smooth and I can feel theres more mid-range torque. Im very happy with the results.

The alternator is a generic Bosch brand, usually found in older mercedes or bmw such as W123 and E36.

It's a shame you cant buy the kit anymore.I LOVE building my own stuff;the whole reason I'm still searchiing for a brake booster rebuild kit that isnt NOS and priced stupidly.

I'll be building a megasquirt fuel controller,I like doing soldering that much!

I have posted it before in other ignition threads - Velleman makes a kit electronic ignition that works well. They have been making it a long time, I put on on a tractor in the 1980's that is till running.

It is kit number K2543 http://www.vellemanusa.com/products/view/?id=350487

If you look around a little online you can find it under 30 bucks.

Have fun. It will still need a box of course.
