This is the #3 main and #3 lower rod bearing out of the POS Dakota's old motor. hahaha Trashed!!!!! I'm amazed it still ran and that nothing spun.
Amazingly the crank is not near as bad as the bearings. There are some scores I can catch a fingernail in, but the bearings took the brunt of it.
Toward the end I was having some oil pressure issues and the motor felt tired. I am unsure whether this was the cause or the effect. I have yet to see my cam bearings. I got tired today and hung it up till tomorrow. Anyway, it's evident I had a "little" problem. =P~
Cam lobes look fine and the roller lifters are good also. I'll check out the cam bearings tomorrow. I suspect the cam bearings are worn, and the excessive clearance caused oil starvation to the mains and subsequently even worse to the rods. nasty stuff!
The cylinders look like new, and there is NO ridge I can feel whatsoever.
Still see the crosshatch throughout.
This motor has been through LOTS of nitrous, lived through 2 explosions, and several valvetrain mishaps as high as 6800 rpm. I found some metal shavings on the oil pickup screen. I am sure I'll see the same deal with the other bearings.
Good thing I decided to build the 408!!! At least I can tell myself now that I needed it BAD! :-D
