Hey all. I am wanting to check the fluid in my 63 Dodge Dart rear end but I dont know what wrench to use to remove the filler plug.
Can someone enlighten me on that process?
Thanks
John

3/8 ratchet, fits in the square hole on the filler plug
remove the plug and check for oil, it should be at the level of the filler hole
if not add until it starts to run out the hole

if you want to change the fluid, remove the rear cover first (dont forger to put a drain pan under it)
when all the oil has drained out have a good look at everything, gears etc.
clean the cover and mating surface, put a thin coat of gasket silicone on it and reinstall
then fill to the level/filler plug hole with new lube reinstal plug and your done

Interesting enough the 3/8 did not fit. The plug was an odd thing so I decided to try using the 1/2" wrench and it did fit and I was able to remove the plug.
I could remember checking the rear end oil YEARS ago, when I was doing alot more work on my own cars so thanks for jogging the memory and pointing me in the right direction!
Cheers.
