So, I have my original 66 Barracuda manual console and it has been through it over the years. There is one area that has some damage from the driver seatbelt, and I need to clean and repaint the thing. Looks like glass filled plastic of some kind, but with a goodly percentage of glass fiber. Can I just use the usual milliput or other spot repair methods? Is the texture a Textured paint, or molded in? is it the same texture as the dash texture paint?

I have a blue console and it looks like the texture is cast in.

You could get some silicon molding material and make a mold of the texture and use that to impression into some gel coat or the like.

Kind of like they do with stamped concrete

Getting the mold to make the impressions and not stick to the gel coat might be the hard part.

So just clean and then over spray with new black, at least in the non- damage areas? I can do a mold of the texture, but the damage is nearly covered by the driver seat and is where the seat belt buckle falls on the console side.
