All of that depends on the wheel offset.
I have a set of Weld 15 x 12 wide with 7 inches inset toward the inside.

Sorry, i was just talking about the wheel offset being a concern when doing what you are asking.
The wheels are not on a car.

Just need some feedback if it is possible, I heard they tried using 12” rims on the 1969-1970 supertock cars/ for wider slicks

Is this what you are asking about?
To get those wheels and tires under there is quite a bit of modified metal. Anything is possible given enough money. But it sure looks good.

Had 15x12 on my old Dart, mini tub to the frame. Set your rear end then measure for your wheels, mine had 4 inch back space.

I’m trying to run 16.5 X 31 X 15 / wheels 15 X 12 with 4.5 backspacing with Calvert +1” lift leaf springs, Calvert rear sliders, Calvert traction bars. I plan to cut the quarter panels like the old super stock Hemi cars

14 wide is pretty much max for a 12 inch wheel. 16.5 is a big tire, might want to look into a 14 wide wheel.

Update ,ended up ordering 315/60/15R Mickey Thompson R series Radials because of the side wall flex on a 10” rim/ 4.25 BS no tubes
