I just wanted to clarify everything in one thread:

'71 Demon 904/column auto

I want to use a stock auto floor shift without console and with my bench seat. I don't need the correct shift knob or anything, and I would simply use one of the aftermarket smaller consoles that Year One sells or something similar.

So this is what I think I will need, tell me if I'm right:

1. auto floor shifter
2. auto floor shift linkage
3. dust boot and grommet that attaches to the floor
4. either a 3-wire neutral safety switch, or wires to extend the column wires

Now here are my questions:

1. Assuming I unhook the trans shifting mechanism from the column at the transmission, and install the floor shift mechanism, it should be a simple swap?
2. Where exactly am I going to be "extending" wires to, if I have the 1-wire neutral safety switch? Would it be transmission to shifter, or column to transmission, or column to shifter? I don't quite get this one.

Thanks in advance

To use the stock shifter there is also a L bracket that bolts to the ears on the bottom of the tailshaft housing. If you don't have the tail housing with the ears you will need that. The 904 and 727 brackets are different also. I will post pics when I get home.
