Comp xs282s

I'm running the Comp XS268s and it sounds great. Has a real nice thump, thump and a real nice idle, great for the street.

If you are going for strip then I would bump it up to either a XS274s or XS282s but I have heard that they are real rough at idle.

I had this cam. I liked it. Nice torque and nice power. You will like it if you run about 8.5-8.6 dynamic compression. Which for me was 10.7 static compression. Should make a fun engine.

Engine size plays a huge part in how it idles. A buddy of mine had one in a 340 and it was pretty nasty idling but ran great but it also had 4:10 gears and a 4500 stall. If you put it in a 408/416 stroker it would be a bunch milder idling and wouldn't require as big a stall or such low gears.

340, 10.5, ede heads, victor intake, 950hp, headers and xs282s cam made 455hp at ~6400.

It was a nasty sounding engine at idle too.

I was going to but that cam on my Valiant ->318 +030 overbore, 399kb pistons, 360 heads home ported 62cc. Tf 904. How much stall and gears that need? Maybe 3500stall and 3.55gear?
