I have for sale a complete from drum to drum with e-brake cables original uncut A-body 8-3/4 rear with 3.91 sure-grip.....This is an original A-body unmolested rear.....never cut or welded on....never taken apart....It is a 741 case...still has its 3.91 axle ratio tag on it which I also verified to be the gears in it.......original small bolt pattern axles (5 on 4)....I actually bought this to put it in my dart in place of the 7-1/4 rear currently in it, but I wasn't planning on doing that until the spring or summer of next year but I couldn't pass the deal up.....So I figured I would offer it here and if it sells great, but if not, no big deal I will just hang onto it until next spring or summer and put it in the dart......measures 43 inches spring perch center to center....about 52-5/8 flange to flange.....drum face to drum face about 57-1/8.....prefer local pickup on this...I will not separate center section from rear housing so please don't ask.....1300.00 ...cash on pickup

It is a 741 case...still has its 3.91 axle ratio tag on it which I also verified to be the gears in it.......

Just a simple question.
Looking at your 3rd pic, looks like the case was never removed. How did you verify that the gears are correct if it was never opened.

Mark the one drum and mark the yoke for driveshaft and turn drum one complete revolution and watch how many times the yoke turns ...It turns almost 4 full turns which is 3.91.....If it was about 3-1/2 turns it would be 3.55...etc. etc....Verify sure grip by turning one drum forward and if the other drum turns forward it is a sure grip....If the other drum turns the opposite direction of the one you are turning it is an open rear....or "one wheel peel"....or "peg legger"

just a question on the ratio tag: Is it bolted under the nut or between the carrier and the housing? Looks like its between, but I have never seen one in person.

It is just under the nut....The angle of the picture and the dirt does make it look like it is between the carrier and housing but it in not....Just dirt hiding the continuance of the tag....
