I have a dis-assembled 340 here & checking the parts, the con rods are 3418645 castings but have large letters following the number FCP, the rods have been polished & peened / floating pin, ( weigh 736 grams ) is there anything special about these rods?, apart from the work that's been done to them they just look like normal factory rods
 
If I'm not mistaken they are 68-74 rods, if they are bushed then they could have come from a 340 or a 318 truck as the truck rods are the same as the 360-340 rods other than being bushed.

It looks like `74 rods according to the casting #. The first two digits of most Mopar castings will give you the first casting date. If the first digit is 1 then that`s the 50`s decade, if it`s 2 that`s the 60`s, 3 the 70`s and so on. The second digit is the year. So in your case a 34 would be `74. The last digit will often designate the side of the car it goes on, even is right and odd is left.This works for most Mopar castings but not all, so just use it as a guideline.
 
The # 3418645 rod is/was used in the following:

1970-1984 360.
Late 1970-'73 340.
1973-@ '85. (Non bushed)

No bushed '645 rods were installed in truck applications, though the lighter pre-'73 318 ('782 forging) was bushed and used in car and truck apps, alike.

As far as part numbers being applicable by their year inception, crude, but, in some cases close.
1970, however, is an extreme exception. You'll find 1970 parts with a 2998*** through 351**** part or casting number.
On the other side, a lot of 1967 part numbers start with a 280**** prefix.

400**** is generally indicative of a '75 part number, but this is not the rule, either.

It's kinda' like Ford's numbering system, where C9AZ is indicative of a '69 Part number, (C=1960 decade, 9=9th year, '69) but also carries to '70.
