Condenser to radiator

Dear thermodynamic gurus

Is it better to have an air gap or better to have the condenser mounted as close as you can to radiator for best cooling?

383 barracuda
26” 2 core aluminum rad
Dual 12” spal fans (advertised 3400 cfm)
Flowcooler water pump
AC car (obviously)

Also, would it make a significant difference to put some holes in those mounting plates?

Having recently done the same I have some opinions on it.
Holes in the brackets wouldn’t be a bad idea, but may not be worth the hassle.
Maybe if your cooling is on the edge, but otherwise I wouldn’t bother.

Gap on the condenser would be nice but doesn’t matter much, as long as the condenser and radiator don’t touch and wear on each other.
I used some 2x2 pieces of black foam pipe insulation for anti rattle pads for the mounting area’s between them.

Looks good from the photos.Usually about 1'' or so gap. I did several cars using the 2'' aluminum strap for mounting.
Didn't drill any but one. The customer wanted holes.
