Saturday they ran a Wally Class race in the Stock Classes for the only time
this year in our Division out here in the West.

My boy Jon entered D/SA which is a class that is generally dominated
by Big Block early muscle cars. There were 8 entries in this class which
was one of the most popular classes at the event. There were several
Big Block Camaros/429 Mustang/400 Pontiac Firebird/ Big Block early Mustangs.
The only other small block car was Steve Wann's 340 early Cuda. Just like
us, he is not scared or intimidated to race Big blocks heads up!

Although it hit 100 degrees and 4000 Ft Density Altitude and a slippery track,
every competitor qualified deep into the 10 Second Range and had brought their best stuff.
. Despite having 150 Lbs of weight bar in the trunk (to combat the slippery track) and heavy Oil due to this being
the first time out on the new engine in Jon's 71 Demon 340 = Jon was number 1 Qualifier
in class and the only car that went in the 10.5's in these conditions. He was number 5 qualifier
overall out of around 70 cars and could of been 1 or 2 but he was .90 something under and could
not risk going 1.00+ under our index and risk getting our combination refactored.
He won class comfortably never having to go over 1000 ft. before backing into his competition
to not go 1.00+ under the index and dominated the class.

Sunday was Eliminators in Stock and Super Stock, Jon put up 5 Double O lights including
one trip zip perfect .000 light and a run on the Dial in with a zero. His other 4 passes were
all .01 which got him to the Semi Finals in both Stock and Super Stock. However, in Super Stock
Semi Finals he went - .003 again a competitor who could only put up a .05 light. Then in Stock
he ran 10.695 on a 10.70 Dial against his good friend who is probably the winningest racer in our Division the
last few years, who went 11.240 on his 11.24 in a tough loss.

All thing considered; he had a fantastic weekend against the top competition in our part of the country!

Congratulations Jon Jr.!

Like father like son, how cool is that.

Oh man !! What a nice couple of days you and your son had, so excited to see this, outstanding job to your son and you, because I know that car had to have a great tune and sounds like weight added. Congratulations Men, super lights and great times on the light always nets a great race.. and a lot of work watching tire pressure and ignition.. so happy for both of you John

Jon was making it look easy out there. Your hard work on this combo showed this weekend. Something to be proud of. And many of the best cars of all makes were going fast.

Now there were 17 classes in stock, mopars were in 10 of the class final rounds, won 5 and lost 5. 2 of the class finals both cars were mopars.
