conversion to manual steering

OK GUYS( I need some steering experts). I have a 1974 duster. ORIGINALLY A 6 CYLINDER CAR WITH POWER STEERING. I DON'T KNOW WHERE THE PUMP CAME FROM. IT HAS METRIC ON THE PUMP ASSEMBLY, IT HAS A SAGINAW POWER STEERING PUMP AND I ASSUME THE ORIGINAL STEERING ASSEMBLY. THE PUMP IS MOUNTED ON A 360 V8. I WOULD LIKE TO CONVERT TO MANUAL STEERING SO I CAN INSTALL HEADERS AND SAVE SOME HORSEPOWER FOR THE STRIP. I DON,T MIND BUYING NEW PARTS. STEERING ASSEMBLY AND IDLER ARM AND WHATEVER NEEDED. IF I COULD FIND GOOD USED PARTS THAT'S OK TO.
MY QUESTION IS WHAT ALL DO I NEED FOR THE CONVERSION AND CAN I DO IT WITHOUT PULLING THE ENGINE? i INTEND TO REBUILD THE COMPLETE FRONT END WHEN I DO THE CONVERSION.

You need the manual steering box (obviously), and a manual steering shaft (it's a different length). As far as I know, that's it. I don't know if the slant six center link would need to be changed for a BBV8, but that's something to check.
 
firm feel sells an adapter that doesn't require a column change
 
Yes you will need a new pitman arm. You will have to cross reference the center link. I can't remember off the top of my head.
