converting from man to power

Yes, sell/trade your manual column for a power one. Manual columns are in high demand so butchering one would be equal to flushing money down the toilet.

You will also need a different spline joint so just get the correct column.

Agreed, Power columns are fairly cheap and they will have the correct coupler on the end and no need to cut a column up that you could sell easily.

But to answer your question its about a 3" difference from a manual column to a power column and that is with out the coupler on the end of it. Just the shaft itself.

The shaft can just collapse inside itself with a little persuasion.
