Did the '64 Dart come out of the factory with 9 inch 2.0 width for brakes in front, or 2.5's ? Maybe it's all about the model/engine ? I am trying to order up new parts, and NAPA and O'Reilly's both carry the 2.5 for the front. I KNOW I have been replacing the 2 inch all around for YEARS. WTF! Is this why I have go but no whoa ? Should I have been buying the 2.5 shoes for the front ! And, if that is/isn't the case, can I just buy the larger 2.5 drums, etc. for the front now ?????????????

62 ,manual front brake shoes 2 9/16" wide
rear 2 1/16" wide
primary lining front 2 1/4" x 7 5/8" long
secondary lining front 2 1/2" x 9 5/8" long
rear primary 2"x 7 5/8"
rear secondary 2" 9 5/8"
thickness 3/16" all

your 64 should be the same, Lawrence

I will be tearing into the project in the next two weeks. I will measure old before I buy new, was just a little curious when I went window shopping for parts that new front 9 inch drums called for 2 1/2 inch linings. Did you know you can run 2 inch linings on the front and it will work, just not so pretty-good. I have been doin' it for years and wondering 'where is the whoa', and replacing the hell out of linings. Thanks to all who took their time to help an old man get un-confused !
