Doing some little odd and ends on my car, replaced some badly corroded door switches planning to get the under dash interior/courtesy light working. Got all the switches and wiring working. I put in a "1004" single filament bulb in to test it and all is working, but the bulb glass is just a little too big to get into the housing. Need a smaller bulb with the same two connector base style.

Figured that would be an easy trip to the auto parts store to get a new bulb, but struck out after going to two places. Anyone know the correct bulb number that I need to look for?

Thanks,

Curt.

Go to a good size NAPA store. They seem to be closer to a real parts house than the other chain stores. Check the Service Manual, it should list correct blub numbers.

Trip to the best independent old school shop in town didn't help. Still looking. Anyone with a service manual willing to look it up?

OK, cracked the code. A type 68 bulb was the answer. Posting here for posterity....
