i'm trying to see if a forged crank from a later model would fit in my 1967 block with a forged
crank. so i can use the transmission from my later model with the lock up in it
because the 67 crank has a small hole at the end of crank and the later model tranny has bigger
shaft on it . so they don't line up.i read that the 3830099 crank might have the same size hole at the back that i could swap it ????

the ring at the back would need to be cut of there is not enough meat on it
the option is and dangerous is cutting the the piece out and then making a ring and welding it to the flex plate so it would work

Cutting and welding an incoherent plate ring thing: No.

Using a '68-'76 forged crank (such as 3830 099) in a '60-'67 block: Yes.

Machining the '60-'67 crank flange counterbore for the '68-up torque converter nose: Yes.

You do not need a crankshaft 3830 099, that is just one of several that will work. Others include 2543 935, 2843 935, and 3769 307.

ok I spoke with my machine shop and he knew what my problem is, they said they can machine mine so the torque will fit. in the mean while I get my car to run and come November pull it apart again!
thanks ssd
