I spent another BEAUTIFUL weekend wrenching on my heap. I managed to get the entire factory harness in, finished up my tach mounting bracket, fabricated an electric fuel pump harness, made a third brake light harness, and ran the wire for my trunk release. I also fabricated the mounting brackets for the inside hood & trunk release. The steering column went in too.
The inside hood release is from a `73 Duster. There was a hole in the firewall already for the cable to pass throught! I had to fabricate the mount for the handle and I added a spot for the trunk button on it too.
Here you can see the cable coming straight up for the release. It works like a charm....
The electric trunk release is from a Dodge Diplomat. Again, it bolted right in. The only nerve-rattling monent was drilling a hole in the inside structure of the trunk to route the wire so it exits by the drivers side hinge.
Here's my steering column installed. Bit-by-bit it's getting there.
This is the tach mount I made. It replaces the left side defroster vent and bolts in place.
The 2 rubber blocks rest on the dash pad and allow the tach wires to be routed through the mount and into the opening in the dash for the vent.
This mounts the tach nice and solid without any hacking or cutting. I just have to make it pretty before I install it.
I also FINALLY picked up my header panel, lower valance, and fender tag that was supposed to be painted 2 months ago. And the rat-bastard gave me an attitude when I picked them up!
And for some fun...here's a short video clip of me hard at work....:-D
