in Aussie we had 2 versions of most models of ute......the higher optioned Valiant and the Dodge....mine being the 1967 VC Dodge it's base heavy duty model, heavier suspension, reinforced body and little else...no chrome at all, no heater, no dash pad

I started by taping up the dash to mould a fibreglass backing

as it fits tightly to the dash it's only 2 layers of light matting....once the basic top was made the side pieces were joined to it and trimmed to size....the aim was to have a pad along the lines of a 68-69 Dart

it was then refitted to the dash and had pieces of 1/2" MDF bonded to fill in the ends

it was then padded with high density closed cell foam and covered

I'm fairly happy with the result but plan to pull it apart and add more padding to the top....the idea is to stop any items placed on the dash top from flying off all the time!!
Once the screen is removed I'll vinyl the dash top so everything matches...I've made A pillar covers as well but those are to be modified to house the tweeters for the sound system so I'll post those along with the rest of the audio install at a later date.....
