I really can't afford to spend $160 on motor mounts. So I was thinking maybe I could buy moroso solid motor mounts and on each side I could put some high durometer rubber. Thoughts?
I searched a lot on motor mounts. What I ended up with is a solid mount on the drivers side and factory mount on the passenger side. I had to make some shims on the passenger side do to the solid mount being thicker. Works great.
Why all the rubber? I used Ed Hamburgers "for 340's only" solid steel motor mounts back in the 70's. Never felt any vibration or any other ill effects and I felt good knowing the motor was not going to break through that flimsy rubber at any moment. My motor was balanced, maybe that helped smooth things out?
