Cutting guide down in bowl ?

Hi, looking to port a set of J heads and add 2.02’s with 5/16” stems. Any flow to be gained by milling the guide down in the bowl between a 1/8” to 1/4” and blending vs just blending as cast?? Thanks

Yes.
When narrowing it, try and leave about .090 thick till mid way down and just a little thicker up toward the roof.
I guess you want to have some kind of guide support but if you just change the guides to 1 pc bronze instead of a liner...go ahead and grind it out 60%

^^^^ I have seen old school head guys do just that.
My local shop was known for great head work.To bad he retired at 90 and closed up shop.
