Ok...I was told a starter from a dakota will work on my 72 dart 360....question is does it matter what engine it comes from...the dakotas I was looking at were all first gen with v6 engines...and definetly smaller than my stock one....they said 15 dollars for one

3.9 has the same bolt pattern as you need and will work perfectly, I have one on my fathers 318, not too sure about the 4 cylinder starters though

It must be a 3.9 or V-8 any V-8 starter. I have a 3.9 starter on my 440 and it works great not to mention it gives more clearence for the headers and its a hell of a lot lighter wich makes it easier to put in. The blood dont run out of your arms as fast as laying on the ground with the original 200 pound starter tryin to snake it up in there. lol.
