Dana60 , oil & spool

Hallo Everybody,

I have in my Barracuda the Dana60, but I am not sure if these is a spool inside or not. Is there any quick tip to check it w/o dismantling the cover ?
2nd question, in case of spool in, should there be different oil ?

Drive it in a circle in a parking lot. You'll know if it has a spool right away.

If it's just a spool or a mech diff like a locker or a worm gear type you just need synthetic oil. If it has a posi you'll need a friction modifier.

I'd pull the cover. I doubt if you've ever street driven it has a spool. You'd know it real quick.

Anyone you know have a boroscope you can borrow while the drain plug is out?

U dont need a boroscope, just look thru the fill plug hole with a light............kim....

I have run a spool on the street w/ an approx. 600 h.p. / 2400 pound car , successfully, just be careful !! WETSPOTS OR RAIN, AND DON`T GET ON IT WHEN TURNING! A detroit locker is similar when tuning. JFYI
