I'm currently having my 68 Dart mini tubbed and not sure what tire size to run....

I'm wanting to run 295's on a 15x10" wheel....tq thrust.

The question is what series of tire should I run? 60 or 50?

I'm not opposed to running another size wheel and tire combo either.....I just need some meat on the back to keep her on the street. Yes she is a street car that might make a trip or few to the strip in the spring and summer months.

So pretty much anything along the lines of a 15" wheel and prolly at least 275-315 on the rear......

Also when u give the wheel and tire info LMK what size back spacing as well.

The reason I ask all these ?'s is b/c I'm getting my 8.75 narrowed and waht to narrow it around my wheels and tire size...So I need to buy them ASAP.

Thx in advance guyz!

Jason

I went to discount tire and they told me 295/50/15 are 26.6" tall...do you think thats to sm or just right?

I think 28-29" tall would hit the front part of the fender...

I`ve got 28`s on my 68 Barracuda with about an inch to spare, but most people in your case (mini tubbed car) will clearance the front of the wheelwell an inch or more.

if you narrow the rear, get the mp spring perches. they have 3 holes in them so you can move the rear forward or rearward 1".
a 275-60-15 is 28" and 11" wide but max recommended rim width is 9.5"
heres a rpm calculator near the bottom of the page.

Betty I already bought this...http://www.thecarfarm.com/springkit.htm

How much wider is a 295/50/15 then a 275/60/15? b/c the 275 is taller by over an inch!

Jason

iirc the 295 is 12.2" wide
thats a nice kit. the perches are the ones i was talking about. heres an interesting read on rear springs and how what does what. check out the slider rear shackles

Hi Jason,

a 295 series tire should be about .80" wider than a 275. The 295 or 275 is the width in millimeters; the 50 or 60 is the aspect ratio (height of the sidewall divided by the width of the tire).

So, a 295/50 tire is 295mm wide, with a 147.5mm tall sidewall (295mm X .50). A 275/60 is 275mm wide, but the sidewall is 165mm tall (275mm X .60). Each 25.4mm equals one inch, so in inches... the 11.6" wide tire has a sidewall that's 5.8" tall, and the 10.8" wide tire has a sidewall that's 6.5" tall.

Now, here's the rub (pardon the pun)... the word "should".

Some brands of tire will be a different size than another brand, even though they may both be labeled as a 295/50/15. Really got to measure the car in question, the rear axle (unless you're cutting it to fit), the wheels, and the tires (preferably mounted on said wheels). Most of the time, a 12" tire will fit if you do the mini-tub.

But ya' really gotta' check. If you don't...

by moving that doesnt it mess w/my pinion angle?

it will. but if you are using new perches then you would set the pinion angle before welding the perches.
there are also shims to install between the spring and axle to correct pinion angle.
i havent welded mine yet. im waiting to get the motor, trans, fuel tank and all the weight back on the car so i know where it sits. i have a feeling ill need to put spacers between the sliders and frame to raise the car a bit.
