Dart qtr extension mounting, extra hole in body?

Does anyone know why I have an extra hole where the quarter panel extension mounts? Its like there may have been another version with an extra stud but both sets I have are the same. Also, one of these sets is original to the car. So what am I supposed to do with this extra hole?

It's probably an artifact from manufacturing. Seal it and move on?

Anyone else have a dart that is all original to show how that hole was sealed? I guess it just had seam sealer smeared over it, dont remember since its been so long since I stripped this car.

I would imagine if factory it had a little plastic or rubber body plug in it.

I remember sealer on the inside of the trunk. It was a "seam sealer" not necessarily between the quarter and extension. I have seen body gasket kits that have gaskets for the fender extensions, but I have never seen one on my car. Maybe they were long missing, my car was repainted once, and I am doing the second repaint.
