Dash screws upside down ?

Help me decide which way to reinstall those 5 screws across the top of the dash.
Why not install them from the bottom up ?

Hi Ben,

Might need to put the clips or clip on nuts on the dash itself so
the 5 screws will tighten into something. Sounds like it should work.

Yeah, you could move the u-nuts to the dash frame. Might want to use shorter screws otherwise they might push up on the windshield WS that otherwise hides them.

seems like that might work but would be a pain to get to after everything under the dash is installed

Yeah the neck on the U-nuts is the same hiegth as the screw head w/ kep washer.
The screws will need length cut.
Surely the butyl sealant will get to them and prevent backing out.
If that kep washer deos get a chance to ratlle on the bottom, it will.
Tough decision...

Thats exactly how I reinstalled the dash after pulling it without removing the windshield.

'tis done. The U nuts are on the dash and the bolts have been shortened about a 1/4 inch. I'm considering adding a foam gasket / weatherstrip of some sort along the span from bolt to bolt. The factory didn't fill the voids between the 2 pieces of sheetmetal.
