Good day fellow enthusiasts ! ! ! I went JY hopping for an Aluminum Heat Sink for an EI upgrade and found an 8.75 Axle with a 489 that's I believe came from a D100 (perches are on top, flange to flange 59.125ish, 5*4.5 pattern, 2.5 wide shoe)...I cleaned it up somewhat and was hoping to find a guide to a date code. The number appears to be 3281....I've totally searched and found guesses on what numbers meant what.....the ring gear has a date of 10/19/71.....

Could the 328th Day of 71 (Nov. 24th of 1971) makes sense ? FABO has been more helpful than words could ever say and I thank you all for your suggestions and knowledge.

I looked at a few pigs i had laying around (all 8-3/4's ) for the dates codes and other not-so-obvious whatnot a couple years ago.....i could not make heads or tails out of any of it, and found no great info online either.

Best of luck tho, I'm grabbing the bucket of popcorn.

Good day fellow enthusiasts.....I had a chance to peek at a 1970,71, and 72 Parts Catalog individually and interestingly enough, there's a Date Code chart in each of them....it seems to indicate Chrysler went on a 10,000 Day "calendar" when it came to date stamping ? ? The 3281 on this case seems to indicate July 22, 1970

One note though....this date code chart pic I'll include as a reference states it's for Engine date code stampings (but it goes on to say Man. and Auto. trannys dates also follow this code) so perhaps it's the same for Center Sections ? I'm not sure...hope this info' on Date Code Charts and their whereabouts helps someone out there.
