How do I decode my broadcast sheet? I want to know what kind of wheels it came with, and what rear axle ratio it has.

Under remarks it has : 91 Special Order

Under Axle is has: 429

Under wheels it has: Road:45

Also there is a section W : WH/COV

Under covers or Delete : 01

Under road wheels it has: 84

Thanks for any help

without really researching this info i can tell you a few things right away that are obviouse. 91 special order= the fact it is a dartlite w/ spirit of 76 edition package. rear gear has to be 2.94 for dartlite with manual tranny and 2.76 for automatics. wheels? humm.... well although i do not know for 100% fact i do belive that in 76 the rallye wheels were gone, so that being said i would guess that the code listed is for a hubcap of some kind...that is why it has wh/cov this is for wheel covers.

Thanks! How do I know which rear AXLE I have? The car feels like it has 2.45 gears! Even with the 3.09 first, its takes alot to just get it moving!

Would 3.55's make that much of a difference? I figured that the 3.09 first+3.55 gears would be an awesome street/highway combo.....mabey I should look at 3.91's?

Just from personal experience, 3.91s are great, but a bit hard to live with on the highway. When I was driving my Barracuda with a 273 on a daily basis, I used to make a 154 mile (each way) trip to visit my brother. With 3.23s it took me about half of an 18 gallon tank to go the 154 miles. I put in 3.91s & left home with 3/4 tank of gas. There weren't many towns along the way & I was sweatin' it when I reached a town 109 miles from home, was sure I'd run out of gas before I got there. It was a change from about 17 mpg on the highway to about 9. But the 3.91s never came out of the car except for one time when I made a about a 1000 mile round trip to visit a friend. I put the 3.23s in for the trip & switched them back out when I got home. This was with an 8 3/4 rear. You probably have an 8 1/4 rear. Switching gears is a bit more involved with one of those.

I have a .73 overdrive,so 3.91 wouldnt be too bad! I think 3.55's would be just right with a 26 inch tall tire....

Grinder,
If you've got the OD trans the 3.91s would be great. I'm trying to decide which trans to use with my car. I have a close ratio 833 & an OD 833. I need to decide which one because it will probably have quite an effect on my cam choice. The close ratio is a bolt in, & the OD is a truck trans so I would need to convert it to the short tailshaft.

3.55 would be a good choice. that is a fairly rare car you got there grinder.

I know,I love this car. Its going to take some creativity to restore the Spirit of '76 graphics.I have yet to see a set for sale!

i do not belive anyone is reproduceing them. i would think if you were able to get a good enough picture that they can be reproduced. good luck with it. i saw a really nice one last year in carlisle. motor was out of it, but it was the same spirit of 76 dartlite package.

What RPM does your car turn at 60-65 MPH? I have 3.54's in my Dana right now but I am thinking of going to 4.10 because I do almost no highway driving. The first 4+ years I had my car on the street it had 5.38's in it. It used to turn about 3200RPM at 40 MPH in 4th gear. Changing to the 3.54's and electronic ignition boosted my MPG from about 4 to 10-12.
