Hi all. I’m hoping someone can help as I’ve got my 1971 Demon in the shop right now, just got a fresh coat of paint but will be doing blackout hood treatment soon and interior door frames, sail panels etc.
1. Was the J54 blackout hood treatment done in organosol? Yes I’ve searched this page and many others but I’ve not really gotten the warm and fuzzies one way or the other. I was going with organosol but then I gave pause when I got a copy of the hood blackout template that is floating around these pages and it states “semi gloss black”.
2. My fender tag calls out 5X8 door frames. This is a 71 only charcoal color. I understand that this had some texture to it. Has anyone restored a car and recreated this code recently? And it goes on door frames and sail panels correct? I have my original sail panels and they indeed look to be textured. And they look a lighter black (charcoal grey?) perhaps from the texture?
3. What about the dash and steering column. If the door panels and sail panels were this lighter textured black, were they too? I don’t think the dash was textured but it looks matte
I really really appreciate any guidance. I’m going to try and post pics of my car in fresh paint and also of my sail panels sitting next to my dash. thanks!
