What should I use to paint the hood blackout on my 72 Demon? I'd like it to look close to correct and be durable, but it's not a show car. Suggestions on something readily available?

Thanks!

I personally like Dupont's Hot Rod Black. Seems pretty durable when cured and you can get wax off of it if you accidently get some on it when waxing the rest of the car.

On the hoods of two of my cars i use the base coat black then shoot a clear coat over that with a flatner in it. Looks good and durable.

I like SEM's hot rod black!

It comes in a kit w/ one quart of single stage paint, 1/2 pint of reducer, and a 1/2 pint of hardener..

It's really is good stuff, i actually sell it at work and it's only about $80 for the kit and that should be more than enough to do your hood!
