Hello all. I recently replaced the hood on my 72 Demon. Since doing that, when I went to close the hood it kinda “popped” up on the back end (hinge/spring end). When I push down on the hood near the cowl it won’t stay down and just pops up about an inch or so above the fenders. Before the hood switch, the springs/hinges worked just fine. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated….thanks!!!

Sounds like adjusting to me. If the springs were bad, when you pushed down on the back of the hood, it would likely stay down. I had a similar problem when I put my 69 Barracuda back together about 9 years ago. As I remember, I first adjusted it to get the gaps as good as possible. Then I marked the positions of the bolts with masking tape. Then I had 2 assistants holding up the front of the hood while I pushed down on the back. Then I tightened the bolts. That sort of pivoted the back of the hood down.

Yep ^^^
Loosen the 2 rear hinge bolts, push up the front of the hood all the way open and hold it there.

Then tighten the rear hood bolts.

Something like that, you have to mess around with those 4 bolts and slowly walk it into position.

The better or worse senario, keep working it to get it where you want it.

Do you have the correct year hood ? Early 72 are different then late 72. Hinges are also different . Maybe you have the wrong hinges for the hood you are installing. The hoods are different in some the adjustment is in the hood. There are plates in the hood that slide for adjustment on early 72's. On later 72's the hinges are slotted more for adjustment
