depth of spare tire well?

Can somebody here tell me the depth of my Demon spare tire well. I am installing a new bottom and cut the old one out without measuring the depth to get the new one at the right height? I am lap welding the seam and not butt welding. Hope I have it deep enough. Haven't welded yet, just did temp screws, but I think I cannot drop it much more. But before I get too far alond, I want to be sure I am close.

If you put your stock gas tank back in (doesn't need to be bolted in) measure from the trunk pan to the top of the gas tank and knock off 3/8" to 1/2" I believe. That's what this guy I know who's been working on these car for the last 40 years told me.
That or you can make it flush and get a bigger gas tank, just another thought.

Mines not a Demon but a Dart Sport, I assume it would be close. With a 3 foot straight edge from side to side, measuring just in front of the tire hold down bracket, I get right at 6 inches.
