I'm quite familiar wit 727's, but this overdrive/lockup stuff iz beyond me...When I wuz race'in, a 727 wuz a 727, now they got stuff I kan't control,,,So, I need sum expert advice...Hope'in sum ov U guru'z kan hep me out....

I don't thank it's major, but iz gunna leed to sumpth'in major if it keepz on....Tha converter ussa juss turn loose when I lifted off tha throttle, and seem to coast, until I gave it throttle, and then lock back up....I don't particular care for that part ov it's operation, but live'd wit it!!...I have a book that said I could hook a certian wire to a switch, and when grounded it would keep the converter lock'd...But, it never workd for me!!.....

Here lately, when I juss slightly lift off tha throttle, tha converter will drop out, and sumtimes go in and out, unless I keep a steady load on it...And, when I lift completrely off tha throttle, it will downshift, thro'in tha rpm way out ov it's good operate'in range.....Then it takes a lil bit to git it to shift back up into OD, and lock up...This iz a pain in tha azz when tow'in my camper on tha interstate, or even run'in empty on tha interstate, when one ov them fools gotta make ya git out tha throttle, while on tha cruise control.....

Any ov U tranny guru's got any help fer an ole penny pinch'in, do it yaself'r????

I know this may sound crazy but clean your battery cables real good. Any corrosion on them screws up the computer and will cause this. I have a buddy that has a 95 Ram 1 ton Cummins that was doing the same thing and after we tried all the usual stuff a trans. guy told us to clean the cables. I thought he was crazy but we did it and it fixed it. that was 6 months ago and it still works fine.

Thankz Fishy...I have been have'in a lot ov battery cable "Groth) here lately!!!....Seems to grow that corrosion over nite!!!...I have dun ever thang to try and stop it, even put new endsa on them, but still git'z a ball ov corrosion!!!.....U juss may have solved my problem...who woulda thunk!!......Gunna go rat now and cleen'r up and maybe even put sum more cable ends on, and see what happenz!!!.......Thankz a bunch....U iz a fart smell'r, dammit, I meen SMART FELL'R....:)

Glad to help T-rex. Sounds like your battery posts might be seeping. That's what usually causes the corrosion to build up. You might try some of those little red and green chemically treated felt washers under the battery terminals. I've put them on a few cars and they usually help as long as the battery isn't leaking around the posts too bad. Also, your local auto supply should also have some anti-corrosion spray to spray the terminals with after you get it all cleaned up and new cables on.

Good luck

A fart smeller huh... Funny but that's what the old man always said when I was growing up...LOL

Fishy.....U IZ MY HERO!!!...:)........

I went on a battery cleen up venture today, after yo suggestion....U wuz dead on!!....I replaced all battery ends, cleen'd all connections, and found tha positive post on tha driver side battery wuz broke, and seep'in acid...I replaced tha battery, and went fer a ride...NO MO TRANNY GOOFINESS...back to normal operation!!!!......

I do appreciate ya hep'in me out.......Now, how bout tell'in me why my ole dart wagon keepz eat'in up ign switches....Lol

My grandpaw ussa use tha ole Fart smell'r thang on me...I juss had ta keep it alive....I remember that say'in when I wuz a kid, an dat wuz back when we hunted dinasourz....lol

Oh, also put sum ov them washers under tha ends!!!

Thankz agin!!

Baking soda and a toothbrush ROCKS for cleaning the terminals.
Is this just a cummins-specific thing, or any RE based trans fishy?

Hey guys, Don't forget to use eye protection when screwin' with the battery and wash up well after. Don't touch your eyes until you're all washed up. Did that once and never again!

My pop used to say i was bright that's why he called me son along with a fart smeller i call my boys that to. Try not turnin the screwdriver so far on that dart it tends to terr up those switches LOL. I learnd somthing today altho i never had that tranny problem i will remember that trick for my 98 cummins.

Good deal T-Rex. Glad I could help.

To be honest the only ones I've seen do it were Diesel trucks but since the trans. is the same I would think any could do it.

Very good suggestions. I wear glasses all the time so sometimes I forget to mention wearing them when working on stuff like batteries. And washing up after is mandatory too.

Amen on tha glass's!!!!.........After have'in to go to tha eye doctor to remover steel, aluminium, and bout everthang else U kan thank ov, I alwayz wear safety glass's when they tha SLIGHTEST chance to git sumpth'in in my eyes!!!.....I ussa thank it wuzn't worth tha trouble to go hunt down a pair ov safety glasses, but IF YA LIKE TO SEE, WEAR THEM GLASS'S!!!.............JMO

Well gentlemen'z, after a few weekz ov doctor'in my ole Truck, and tha tranny not ever git'in back to wher it wuz(altho I thunk tha Batteries dun it), I talk'in to a Cumminz specialist about my problem...He never blink'd when he said, "Change tha throttle linkage!!"....He said if it had more tha a couple hundred thousand miles, I need'd to "UpDATE" tha linkage, and TPI.......Well, I figger'd I could make bushings, and stuff to repair tha linkage...WRONG!!....Soooo, damm neer $800 and a week later, I had tha new "UPDATE THROTTLE KIT"....Bout $500 worth ov parts, and after I finished, I prolly had $400 worth leff!!!.....It's a Update package for ALL models, so a lot ov stuff ya don't use!!!....It's a pain in tha azz, and PRICEY, but tha ole Turbobee iz back to it's well manner operation!!!....Throttle responce iz quite responsive(ya don't reelize juss how wore stuff git's, till ya put new stuff back on it).,...

Anyway, juss figger'd U boyz(or Girlz) wit Hi milage Dodge truckz wit Cumminz mita want ta know what fix'd my , seemingly, ail'in tranny!!!....REX
