Differential Fluid Capacity

I was wondering what the fluid capacity is for an 8 1/4 rear end.

I have an 8.75 and I bought 2 containers of Royal Purple lube, I had just a little left over.

usually about 2 quarts. when full, and with the car level, it should just start to drip out of the fill plug.

Thanks, I figured it had to be close two quarts. Does anyone know if a rear end girdle adds to the fluid capacity or just helps strengthen the rear end?

no. just adds strength. its not hollowed out on the axle housing, just welded to the existing one.

If it happens to be a posi, don't forget to figure in a few ounces of Posi Lube too. :smile:
