Differential Id?

Looks like I got the 8 1/4. Most likely the factory rear end that came with the car. I don't know if it's posi or not. Haven't had the rear end off the ground to check it. My big question is while the previous owner installed mini tubs on the car, why did he take the time and trouble to move the spring perches in on an 8 1/4 rear end? I just told my son it is what it is. Run it until it breaks and then worry about it.
