What would you choose, and why.

Either way I go it will be mounted on top, or top side of steering column so it will be easily visible when driving. Right now I have an old analog mounted on the front end of my console, looks neat, but not very easy to look at without taking your eyes off the road.

Personally I like the analogue. Much easier to see fluctuations of the rpm.

analog... Your brain has to process number and correlate them.
Analog only takes a glance.

Analog can be read with your peripheral vision. Not so with a digital. I absolutely HATED the digital speedo on my 2002 Triumph Daytona 955. The tach was analog and easy to catch but not so the speedo.

Analog, I have an Auto Meter Monster Tach with Shift Light, the
tach is mounted below the dash under the ashtray and I got the light extension cord so I could mount the Shift Light on the Steering Column, it doesn't block any gauges or lights, but gets my attention enough to shift when I wind it up to 5800 RPM without even looking at it.

I never look at the tach. I can hear the engine and feel her pull or fall off.

In fact the only time I look at the tach is in replay mode. The only gauges I look at while normal driving are H2o temp, Oil pressure. Sometimes volts.

My shift light is mounted on the front A pillar cage bar and shines right in my peripheral. By the time it's on I've already fu@ked up

You can see my gauges are layed out in order of importance. MPH, and tach are behind the steering wheel cuz I never look at them.

AFR, OIL PSI, H2O TEMP, MPH, TACH, FUEL, VOLTS, VAC. FUEL PSI on cowl.

I prefer analog over digital...

With digital, you only see the number change...

With analog, you can see how fast the needle changes/moves to get a better feel for what's going on...

My AFR gauge is both digital and "analog." While the data logging is nice I cant watch the numbers flash as easy as I can watch the bar move.

The numbers just move to fast for my brain while the analog part is a nice easy sweep.
