Disc brake dust shields

I have a 1969 Dart with factory Kelsey Hayes 4piston disk brakes. The dust shields were very rusty and I cleaned them up to the bare metal and want to keep the looking clean. Were the dust shields bare metal from the factory or were they painted black

The 73+ ones were definitely galvanized.

i have a few sets here and they all appear to be galvanized.

My KH I cleaned up, primed, painted Cast Blast and then clear coat.

I re-galvanized mine. Bad idea. The aged metal will never re-galvanize well. I ended up painting a similar color.

Thanks for the help now I will paint them to look as close to galvanized as I can

Eastwood used to carry a galvanized looking spray paint.

Eastwoods galvanize paint is not. It is more like chrome.

CRC bright zinc-it cold galvanizing spray is a fairly close approximation.
