I'm in the process of installing the A-body disc brake
conversion from Master Power Brakes on my 1967
Barracuda. My 1967 service manual shows the stock
Kelsey-Hayes calipers mounted on the rear side of the spindle.

The conversion spindles have L and R cast on them. When I mount
the spindles according to the markings the calipers come up on the rear
of the spindles just like the stock set-up.

The Mopar Action article says the calipers should be mounted on the front
side of the spindle.

Can someone who has made this conversion using the
Master Power Brake kit please shed some light on this.

Thank you for your help

The magazine article is using the large bolt pattern later style discs, (single piston) that mount on the front of the rotor. Your 1967 manual would be showing the small bolt pattern early style (4 piston) which mount on the back of the rotor.

Don't use that article, there will be other differences. Use these two references instead:

Thanks 65s
based on the first ref. it looks like my calipers should mount on the
rear of the spindle for a 1967. Is this a good assumption on my part
or did I mis read it?

Thanks again

Yes, all Kelsey Hayes (KH) a-body small bolt discs from '65-72 will mount on the rear of the spindle. This is important for clearance of other items. I don't know about '67 up a-bodies, but my '65 Barracuda Formula S has a factory sway bar and a front mounted caliper will hit the sway bar, so the rear mounted disc setup was the best choice for me (plus I wanted to keep the small bolt pattern instead of going large bolt).

the front mounted calipers are for 73-up a bodies that had a sway bar on the inside of the strut rods, 72 and earlier had the sway bar on the outside of the strut rods. you are correct in putting them to the rear. R and L don't matter as much as the bleeders facing 12 o'clock. i have 74 dart calipers mounted to the rear of my 68 cuda. i just swapped the spindles side to side since the are symmetrical.
