distributer confusion!

Are small block distributers different then big block (383) distributer?
what are the numbers on the distributer 3690431

Small and big are different.....the overall length of the SB is longer and the vacuum advance setup is on the opposite side of the distributor I think.

Sorry, can't help w/ the #'s.....someone else here will know.

Cant tell you the numbers right off but yes they are different. Small block units rotate clockwise and big block units rotate counter-clockwise. The vacuum advance units come out in opposite directions because of this and the advance weights and upper shaft segment are designed differently.

looks to be a MP vacuum advance unit for the 383 and 400 B engines. hth.
