Started up my 318 '68 Barracuda (I'm the original owner) a couple of days ago and waited for my wife to come out. It was running well and then just stopped. Put off the cruise and began the search... no spark. Took off the distributer cap and found the advance plate had broken off its pivot. This was a replacement distributer I had put in back in the middle '70's because the original had a worn upper bushing which made the timing wonky. I still had the original one wrapped in plastic to avoid rust, so I installed it. The cuda runs but I'd like to know how to get at the underside where the pivot stud is to possibly repair it. This distributer has an oil cup for the upper bushing and the bushing is good. Anybody have this happen and can these be repaired?

Send me a pm and I can come over tomorrow or |Sunday and take a look.. I have redone mine so unless yours is an oddball, I should be able to show you.
Ken

Hi Ken, I have a very busy weekend. Car shopping tomorrow and car show up at the casino in South beach on Sunday. Just got out my '68 manual and that shows how to get at it. Thanks anyway. Best, Mike
