Hey All
So my car Started running a bit rough And Then began having problems with the power surging up and down. When I got home and put the timing gun on I wasn't even getting a spark to the 1st Cylinder...Now this Is a dual points Dist That is crusty and old...And the wires are pretty shot too....I'm assuming it the distributer because of the surging... And tried swapping cables and it still was't firing on 1...So should I Just buy a MSD "ready to run" or Go for a billet DIST with a MSD 6 box????...I was planing on an upgrade at some point..And Im staying with a small block

What other things might you be planning? As in the motor's compression ratio, maximum RPM, any plans for a blower or nitrous...? A well dialed in timing curve on a mild street motor is going to be more valuable than getting as much spark energy as possible, while a really crazy turbo motor could build more cylinder pressure than a basic MSD 6 could handle. So it all depends on how much spark you might need.
