Do Detroit lockers make noise?

-
Got 410 locker 489 case moser axels and when l go over a bump , makes a clanging noise normal?
Unless it is making the wheels rotate at different speeds (off camber bump) i have not experienced noise from bumps. Just when turning corners, sticker the tires the worse that was.

Heck yeah they make noise. Not necessarily going over bumps, but more like around turns. The will "unlock" around turns and the "lock" once straightened up. They can also make noise going straight when unloaded and then loaded again. Going over bumps? Make a video with some good audio and post it up.

I guess my engine is loud enough to hide my dana 60 Detroit locker , have never heard a word out of it , it sure works great tho...

If it has an "SL" after the part number, that means "Soft Locker". They are designed to be quieter than their more noisier countreparts. They still make some noise, though.

I have a Detroit locker in the S-60 in my Barracuda. If it does make noise, I can't hear it over my 3.5" side pipes!
In summary, install side pipes with no mufflers.

They should click and clang around turns when unlocking then when locking again on the straights.

Don't use this diff for the road course!

Dont know , had it built by a guy in Ohio about 1993-?? engine is loud enough that probly couldn't hear it either way ...

My old '68 Dodge Power Wagon had Detroit Lockers in Dana 60's front and rear. Some times in a mellow turn from a start, it would sound like someone slammed the rear axle with a sledgehammer with an accompanying whole vehicle shuffle.
