I'm trying to decipher what their statement means below. Has anyone heard of the term "estimated scheduled production date" in terms of Mopar factory manufacturing scheduling?

The estimated scheduled production date for your vehicle was ~ 9/14/1970

Have a great day.

It means just that. Forward scheduling was used at the time in lieu of reverse scheduling. A target date was set and checkpoints and milestones were reached on the way to completion. Sometimes they were ahead of schedule and sometimes they were behind schedule. Not every date should be considered actual.

When you order a car, the order is assigned a vehicle order number (VON), then it goes to scheduling and they review the order and option codes to make sure they are all correct and no conflicts... Once you pass edit, they assign a VIN and a schedule date if your dealer is not above their monthly allocation, if they are, they push it to the next month... If there are any parts shortages or shutdowns, then the date gets pushed back...

If you know anyone who works there, there are ways to get it bumped ahead if you know who to contact... When I worked a the truck plant, my brother ordered a 97 Dakota... I talked to my "man" and he pulled some strings and had the dealer allocation waived and it bumped up in the schedule for me... My brother's truck was built and delivered in 21 days... The dealer was so confused how fast it was built, but I told my brother to pretend not to know or say anything because they don't want everyone and their brother (no pun intended) to bother them to expedite their order...

So the fender tag shows the day and month that the vehicle was SCHEDULED FOR PRODUCTION. The door sticker shows the month and year of something else. The date the finished car rolled out of the factory may or may not be either of these door or fender tag dates. Ok, got it. So the ESTIMATED SCHEDULED PRODUCTION DATE is just an estimate and may or may not be the date the car was produced. Ok, thanks for the info.

SPD. Scheduled Production Date. Rarely met. My 69 Superbee's SPD is Feb 25th 1969. Engine was built Feb 26th and my drivers side exhaust manifold wasn't even cast until Feb 27th !

So what and where was the correct production date on your car?

There is no "correct" production date. SPD is on your fender tag. Doesn't mean that's the actual day it was built as I noted above. No way my Bee was built on the 25th, with an exhaust manifold cast on the 27th.

69 didn't get drivers door VIN stickers... and even if they did '70's up don't give a day, just a month and a year!

@dadsbee I owned RM23U0A161592 in the mid 80's. J95431 if I remember right. Sold it to a guy in Fitchburg, Massachusetts and he kept it for a few decades. He sold it and I have no idea where it is now. FJ5 column automatic.
