Last night I "trapped" a rat in the entryway to the house. This morning the rat was nowhere to be found. I'm not surprised, just wish i knew how he/she does it.

I hate to say it, but I have seen rats jump at least that high to run from a cat at a grain elevator I worked at up in Illinois, unbelievably they could jump that high, but like said earlier, they are great climbers

To add what has already been posted, not only can they climb on wood, but brick as well, as I’ve seen them almost 10 feet off the ground before.

Easy pickings with a pellet rifle. As kids we would go to the local garbage dump. Line up 5/6 cars with lights shining on the big pile of garbage. We would then turn lights off. Wait until you heard the garbage moving. Then with every one behind the lights, shotguns pointed we would turn on the lights and open fire. One can only speculate on how many we killed. We would turn light off multiple times. When the ammunition was gone we’d go party somewhere
