I recovered my original doorcards and now, they are old, swollen and most of the retaining snap holes are gone. sounds like my knees... My question is; what is a good material to start with? Basically they are simple flat pieces.

Bonus question; is there a better method than he slot and clamp to hold the doorcards to the door?

Although I have not done it, I would think Masonite would be a good to use. It appears to be almost the same as the origional material . I have no suggestions for you on a type of fastener.
