Draining Edelbrock 1405 for storage

A buddy has asked me to help him prep his 1969 Bronco for long term storage. Specifically he wants me to help him drain the carb. It’s got an Edelbrock 1405 and I’m more of a Holley guy so I could use some advice here. What’s the easiest and simplest way to get the fuel out of the bowls? Hoping I can just pull the top off and use a turkey baster or something followed with a rag. My buddy only has one arm so it’ll be a lot easier for me to do it.

Wouldn't it be easier to pull the carb and dump it out through a vent or inlet?

If I'm gonna store one for a LONG time, I just dump it upside down and let it sit over night, then I come behind that and spray brake cleaner in through the bowl vents, shake it up good and turn it upside down and let that drain and let it dry completely. Now I'm sure here come the clowns that'll say stuff like "brake cleaner will hurt this and that" but I've been doing it that way since a friend showed me that trick in the 80s. The key is getting as much GAS out as you can, because ironically, gas WILL hurt it.

Yeah, that’s what I do with my Holleys. The linkage and manual choke stuff is a pain on his Bronco. Was hoping there was an easier way with an Edelbrock.

I believe somewhere in the fuel supply line you should find a rubber section (fuel filter). I just pinch it off with needle nose style vise grip. Run engine till it runs out of fuel. Or remove fuel line, block off with bolt and clamp ? Repeat procedure. Run till empty. Just my two cents.

Remove the carb. Using one of the vents [ there are two, next to each met rod piston ] pour in ATF until it comes out the top of the carb. This will prevent corrosion.

When ready to use again, drain the ATF & wash out carb with petrol or solvent.

Ive used ATF in the past when storing cars, smokes like a bugger, but also helps coat exhaust lol.
More recent years I dont do anything carb wise, I use Marine Stabil in the fuel and no issues
