Drip rails

I have seen a few dusters on this site with the drip rails removed, doesnt look bad at all.
 
I was thinking of doing it on my Duster but it looks like a lot of work. That is where the inner and outer roof sections come together and are spot welded. From the look of it you would need to graft in some sheet metal in that area to rejoin the two halfs together.

No grafting of metal required. Simply cut off the drip rail leaving about 1/8" and hit it with a grinder smoothing it down. Then weld up the seam. I did it in 4" or so sections at a time to avoid it pulling apart. Then metal finish it out.

The glass fits into the weather strip channel, so it "should" be water tight......probably not hurricane proof, but water tight
