I just acquired a parts car for my project. Now I know this a shot in the dark but would the 273/auto driveshaft work with the 833?

Assuming that the auto is a 904 the lenght will be correct but you will need a new slip yoke for the front of the drive shaft. The A833 tranny has the same size output shaft as the 727 which is larger than the 904.

I've done a couple of 4 speed conversions and always used the 727/833 drive shaft and yoke. The 904 is a couple of inches longer.

I always thought the 727 tranny in an A-body was longer than the A904, A833 or 3spd manuals.

According to my Mopar Chassis Manual the 904 and the 833 in the a-body have the same length from engine block face to end of tail housing (well almost there is .080 difference in length) not enough to worry about.
