Drum brake interchange

Can I swap rear brake drums & hardware from a 7 1/4 inch big bolt to a 8 1'4 inch big bolt rear?

I was actually about to post about the same thing. Is there someone out there that can help us out? I am looking to go from 7 1/4 LBP to an 8 3/4.

while you all are at can you put 8 1/4 axels in a 8 3/4. that would just prove again that mopar was the best if the ends of the axels were pretty much interchangeable lol

I THINK the BBp 7.5 stuff is a direct bolt on to either the 8.25 or 8.75. Someone who knows for sure will hopefully chime in. Like I said, I'm pretty sure but not positive. Do your 7.25 inch backing plates have 5 mounting holes or 4? My SBP 7.25 had 4.

The answer on the brakes is YES! I've done this swap a couple of times. Just ensure you swap all parts (backing plates are most important.). I've swapped big bolt 10" brakes from a 7 1/4 to 8 3/4and from 8 1/4 to 8 3/4. Axles a different story, they are not a direct swap.
