I am doing this thread to show how I built up my new speaker bracket that I purchased from Jerry (Username: '74 Sport). When I first received my bracket, i was planning to use dual 4' Polk (DXi400) speakers. When I went to line them up, the speaker holes were smaller so I thought that I would have to make the holes bigger so the surround would fit in it. After talking with Jerry here is what the plan and design was all about and what I did to make mine work for those thinking of purchasing one. I will post this in two segments since I cannot fit all the pics in one post:
Pic #1: The bracket I received (For a 71 Duster)
Pic #2/3: My Polk Speakers
Pic #4: As you can see in this picture, I was concerned that the whole speaker did not fit in the cutout. Then when I would go to install the screws, I was afraid that the frame of the speaker would bend due to the gap from the frame to the bracket. I even tried to install the speaker through the top, but then I had issues with the hole and the tweeter hitting the top of the dash.
